Automatic Timestamping
Observational Coding System-Analog-VCR (OCS-VCR) and OCS's new digital options can automatically assign Timestamps from the VCR or digial video inputs, allowing the CPU to remain synchronized with the videotape even after a fast forward or rewind.

Here is an example of a code entered with it's Timestamp. The Timestamp is in the format HH:MM:SS:FF which stands for Hours:Minutes:Seconds:Frames. Frames are the individual still pictures and are recorded at 30 frames per second (American standard) or 25 frames per second (European standard). |
Timestamping is a useful time saver when coding and can also be used for synchronizing times to video. Time can be "burned in" on the video which matches the times on your dataset and allows the dataset to link to specific places on the video. With OCS Tools software and certain hardware, clicking on an event in your dataset or clicking the 'goto' button will move a VCR to that specific time and start playing. Any segment on the video can be accessed from the computer which remotely controls the VCR.
